Boron-polyethylene neutron shielding sheet

The experiment of boron-containing polyethylene board releasing γ energy under D-T neutron irradiation finally shows that its moderation of hydrogen plays a major role. When neutrons of hydrogen are slowed down, it is mainly the reaction of low-energy neutrons to hydrogen. More thicker the boards, more stronger the hydrogen moderation and absorption to the γ energy, which is showed in the increase of the reaction peak of hydrogen.

As to the boron-polyethylene boards, it is the boron that mainly absorbs the γ energy. The low-energy neutron has been completely absorbed by boron before the hydrogen reaction, for the reaction cross section of boron to the low energy neutron is relatively large. The shielding effect of  boron-containing polyethylene boards could reach the requirement, when the boron-containing up to 10%, and the thickness of boards reach 15mm. 

And if need, we also could increase the boron-containing and the thickness of the boards.
